It is the highest level and most professional international art exhibitions held in Liling Ceramic Valley, Liling City and even the whole Hunan Province after the “Mode-Invitation Exhibition of International Ceramics Artists in Liling Ceramic Valley” was held in November 2016.
The “Originality & Ingenuity September” exhibits more than 40 works created by 16 internationally famous contemporary glass artists. It is also the highest level and most professional international glass art exhibition held in Liling Ceramic Valley, Liling City and even the whole Hunan Province.

The mission of Liling Ceramic Valley is to create the world-class ceramic culture art exchange platform and original platform. We have been committed to publicizing, promoting, exploring and supporting the contemporary artists and works with original spirit and unique style; displaying the contemporary international cultural and artistic features; actively carrying out dialogue and cooperation with global cultural and art institutions; and striving for promoting the development of Chinese ceramic culture and art as well as the co-existence and co-advancing of global contemporary culture and art.
For this reason, after we successfully held the “Mode-Invitation Exhibition of International Ceramics Artists in Liling Ceramic Valley” in 2016, this year we work together with the International Academy of Ceramics (IAC) under UNESCO representing the highest level of international ceramic art once again to hold the “Classics Revived-Invitation Exhibition of Ceramic Design by International Famous Artists in Liling Ceramic Valley AND Originality & Ingenuity September-Invitation Exhibition of Contemporary International Glass Art”.
The two exhibitions show nearly 200 original artistic works of ceramics and glass created by more than 50 top artists from 18 countries and regions around the world.
Compared with the “Mode-Invitation Exhibition of International Ceramics Artists in Liling Ceramic Valley” in 2016, the two exhibitions this year are featured by more characteristics, richer contents, more opened inclusiveness, and more intense modernity. They not only pay homage to traditional Chinese ceramic culture and the classics, but also to national civilizations in countries and regions along the Belt and Road!
We expect through the international and professional exhibitions, Liling Ceramic Valley will obtain more and more attention, care and support; and we can build a world-class platform focusing on ceramics and integrating development of ceramic culture industry, cultural and art industry, cultural and education industry, and cultural tourism industry as early as possible.
I express my sincere thanks to the exhibition planners Professor Jin Wenwei and Professor Liu Peng; to Mr. Kaufmann, Chairman of International Academy of Ceramics (IAC) under UNESCO; to the European Ceramic Work Center, Canada Lakeside Center, Jingdezhen Asian and American Ceramic Art Center, and Dutch Embassy in China; and to all the participating artists!

In the past, our “Maritime Silk Road” enabled the world to share China’s culture, art and economy.
Undoubtedly, ceramics have also become the most important business card and medium for global recognition of China.
The “Belt and Road” initiative in China is the responsibility for the world. How will we reshape Chinese ceramics to re-flourish and become confident in the global landscape?
We should build the core values of modern ceramics in China based on traditional cultural contexts, enhance the in-depth exchange and cooperation between international and regional ceramists, enable the world to share China’s rich and contemporary ceramic achievements once again; and together share the achievements of international exhibitions held in Liling Ceramic Valley.
The exhibition of “Classics Revived” stresses art as the foundation and design as the most important method and purpose of ceramic materials in future. Culture, modeling, glazing color, and process in Chinese traditional classical ceramics will show another kind of charm in the cultural contexts created by 54 artists from 16 different countries.
They are excellent artists and have experiences and abilities to design ceramics.
During these 5 months, I have been deeply touched by the on-site artists and their assistants’ hard work and persistence in hot summer; touched by their intrepidity towards difficulties and challenges; touched by the participating artists’ sense of historical responsibility and respect to the exhibitions; and touched by Mr. Wu Xiangdong’s feelings and vision.
I express my sincere thanks to everybody in the assistant team, and the positive and enthusiastic energy that you give to the on-site artists every day is the guarantee for your works.
I express my sincere thanks to the sincere cooperation of exhibition planning teams and Liling teams to smoothly hold the exhibitions.
I express my sincere thanks to all the participating artists, and your responsibilities and talents are the guarantee for great success in our exhibitions. I hope the “Classics Revived” itself is a continuing great piece of work.
I express my sincere thanks to Mr. Luo Jian and his teams’ hard work and optimistic view of the “Classics Revived”exhibition.
Last but not least, I express my sincere thanks to Mr. Wu Xiangdong’s great support for ceramics development!
